Avengers : Age of Ultron World Premiere
Part 1: The experience
April 13, 2015

Avengers: Age of Ultron Banner hung over street entrance to Dolby Theatre

I split the premiere post for Marvel\’s Avengers Age of Ultron because I had so many photos (which I cut down from an original 443 taken to 50+ being posted) to put into a single post.  Part one is focusing on the experience I had at the premiere.

End of the Red Carpet before it turns into the mall

This premiere was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California instead of the El Capitan Theatre across the street (and owned by Disney).  The El Capitan was used for the premiere to house the guests and press (I only know this because I saw the sign at the check-in table).

I had no intention of camping out to try and get autographs or photos with the celebs, and I\’m really glad I didn\’t as the setup was not fan-friendly.  In fact, the best place for the fans was where the cars dropped off or inside the mall of the Hollywood and Highland Center in front of the central stairway.

I arrived via the MetroRail at around 5:30pm and the place was incredibly busy, but a bonus of having all lanes closed for the premiere is not waiting for the pedestrian crossing light.

All lanes of Hollywood Boulevard between Orange and Highland were closed for the premiere and the press line extended the entire length.  I took a lot of pictures of this (but, regrettably, none from above) to give you an idea.  After saying hello to a couple of friends who camped out all night and walking around to take photos of the setup, I placed myself across from the ET, Access Hollywood area as they were the closest to the photo area.  I also knew that such huge shows were going to get all of the big stars to stop and give interviews.

My view (the white banner says Access Hollywood)

PLEASE NOTE: All of the photos I took (with the exception of the El Capitan marquee) were taken from the back of 4-5 rows of fans already at the barricades.  I only cropped the photos of the celebs which are in tomorrow\’s post.

The spot with the Iron Man figure is Marvel and is just to the left (West) of Access Hollywood (E is between them)

This is the red carpet set up where the press was set up in the middle of the street, and the cars dropping off used what appeared to be about 1 1/2 lanes of Hollywood Boulevard.

I don\’t even know which press stations/websites these are

While waiting for the arrivals, they gave out Subway sandwiches and Hulk gloves toys.  Here are the boxes of the Hulk gloves being unpacked and handed out.  They gave most of them to the people on that corner (Hollywood and Orange).

The premiere was sponsored by Harley Davidson and Audi, and I could only get a partial photo of one of the Harleys on the red carpet, but none of the red Audi.

This is the side of the El Capitan marquee from where I had my spot along the barricades.

Just before I went down to the Metro Rail station, I went up the outer steps of the Hollywood & Highland Center to take a photo of the front of the El Capitan marquee.

Because I only wanted to take some pictures of the premiere, I was not disappointed in my experience.  Had I camped out all night, I probably couldn\’t say that.  After all, you camp out at premieres in the hope of getting an autograph or photo with a celebrity.  I definitely would have had even better photos since I was taking them over people\’s heads, but that\’s a small consideration for camping on the street in Hollywood.
