Terminator Genisys Premiere
Los Angeles, CA
June 28, 2015

I was able to get some \”first come, first serve\” passes for the Terminator Genisys premiere being held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California on Sunday, June 28, 2015.  The passes had a start time of 3:30pm, but when I saw the bleachers set up via the Hollywood Blvd. webcam, I knew that I would have to line up much earlier than the 12:30ish I had planned on. I arrived a little after 10am and it was already 85 degrees outside.  The line was in the sun until about 1pm so we were pretty miserable for the first few hours.

I grabbed some lunch around noon and took some pictures of the set-up.  I also took this opportunity to ask one of the security personnel what time the arrivals would begin.  He wasn\’t sure but estimated 5pm.  Though, this wasn\’t correct, it told me that they would be loading us into the bleachers around 3pm and the arrivals would be beginning at 3:30pm rather than the screening starting at 3:30pm,

Here are a few pictures of the set up:

This screen showed scenes from the film all day. (I would end up on the risers under it)

They gave out the wristbands around 3:30pm and they didn\’t even check to see if we had passes, but I think they were in a hurry since the arrivals were already happening so they had to fill the bleachers fast!

Here are some shots from the risers section I was in:

They handed out some Terminator Genisys sunglasses (courtesy of Fandango.com) in the area I was standing in. I think we were the only ones getting them as I didn\’t see anyone in the bleachers sections get anything.

During the red carpet, fire would shoot out from the scaffolding above us.  It kept scaring me and it also made it even warmer.

Luckily we were in the shade, but it was even warmer due to the close proximity of bodies.
I only had my cell phone with me, but since I was so close to the red carpet, the pictures turned out really well.

I have no idea why Chris Hardwick was there.

The only decent picture I got of Beth Behrs was the back of her head.  I do love her hairstyle, though!

One of the funniest things I heard while standing in the risers area, was a boy about 8-10 years old say that he wanted a picture of the \”red person.\”  His tone was one of awe at seeing a \”red person\” and the person he was referring to was Arnold Schwarzenegger.  I laughed so hard because the boy had no clue who the man was, just that he was \”red.\”

This is the only picture I got of Emilia Clarke as she was still far away when we given our tickets to go into the screening.

Once we were inside the Dolby Theater, I immediately went to get the popcorn and soda (they are free at almost all premieres) and to take my seat.  I had been standing for hours and I wanted to relax on soft (not concrete) seats in air-conditioning.

I took these just before the movie began.

Terminator Genisys is fun, and as a fan of the first two films, I love how they incorporated elements and scenes from those films, but it could have been much better.   Without giving any spoilers, I will say that I love (with a little hate) seeing more of John Connor, the man and soldier/leader.

I\’m seeing Terminator Genisys again tonight at another screening which will have a Q and A with Jai Courtney after the movie.

TTFN,
