John Barrowman Panel
Heroes and Villains Fan Fest – San Jose
November 22, 2015
I’ve been to several of John Barrowman’s panels, and he never disappoints.  A fan had given him 4 dozen chocolate chip cookies, which he had passed out to the audience (with her blessing—she was sitting in the row in front of me).  I should also mention the staff of HVFF had tossed treats (pastries, mini donuts) out to the audience between panels.

A few of the stories I’ve heard before at his other panels, but that’s because he gets asked a lot of the same questions.  He did mention that he and Scott still have a house in Wales and you can actually do a Google search for the house and see aerial photos of it. I haven’t tried it so I don’t know if that’s true, but I’m sure it is.

John had two guests crash his panel.  The first is Neal McDonough shooting John with a Nerf gun (as he had done the previous day when John was on the bungee bounce thing), and John shot silly string back at Neal.  Then, John, saw an adorable little boy in a great Green Arrow costume, and asked him to come on stage.  Neal picked up the little boy and lifted him onto the stage.  Then John had the little boy shoot “the bad guy” (Neal) with the Nerf gun.  Neal played along, and it was really cute.  John had the boy shoot “mommy,” then shoot the “bad guy” (himself), but the little boy shot Neal again.  John said shoot me, shoot this bad guy and the little boy turned and shot him, too.  It was really cute.

Neal came up on stage and talked to the crowd.  It was his first convention and John had talked him into doing it, and Neal was really glad he came.  He was leaving the con, but wanted to thank everyone for their love and support.  Neal McDonough will be at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in New York/New Jersey, and I hope he gets onto a panel for a Q&A (though it was really fun to watch him play Super Charades) in New York.

A few moments later, Katie Cassidy came to say bye to John since she was leaving the con.  We got some great stories about late night calls/texts and how they call each other Felicia.

John always has fun with the sign language interpreters, and this panel was no exception.  It was funny when he realized that the two interpreters for his panel signed “fart” differently.  It was hilarious, but I think one of the ladies was a little embarrassed by the attention.

I feel bad that we didn’t stay for the next panel, as they were really trying to get people to stay for it, but we were tired and hungry and still had to drive back to LA.
TTFN,
