The Battlestar Galactica panel was the reason I wanted to attend Classic Comic Con in Modesto. There was also a special on the tickets which I couldn\’t pass up. The panel was to be a mini-reunion of cast members from the original series airing from 1978-1979. The guests were Dirk Benedict (Lieutenant Starbuck), Sarah Rush (Flight Corporal Rigel), Herbert Jefferson, Jr. (Lieutenant Boomer), Anne Lockhart (Lieutenant Sheba), and Jack Stauffer (Lieutenant Bojay).
Richard Hatch was scheduled to appear at the convention, but had to cancel last minute for medical reasons. The convention was able to schedule Anne Lockhart in his stead. Richard Hatch attends many conventions in and around Los Angeles so I\’ll be able to see him several times over. I really love Anne Lockhart and was a fan of her mom\’s as well.

There were some fun moments between the cast members, especially this hug between Herbert Jefferson, Jr. and Dirk Benedict. The hug was a result of Dirk saying he didn\’t have a tv growing up so Herbert got up to give him a hug.

Some interesting trivia is that the role of Lieutenant Sheba was written for Anne Lockhart by Glen A. Larson, but there were still other actresses \”up for the part\” for quite awhile before she got the final okay. This was because the studio or network wanted to look at other actresses for the part. Anne and Dirk actually worked together prior to Battlestar when she was only 18 years old.

Jack Stauffer has spent much of his career playing characters who die on various television shows in the 1970s and 80s.

Classic Comic Con 2017 will move to the end of October for 2017 and tickets are on sale now. I won\’t be able to make it for 2017 because it\’s the same weekend as Stan Lee\’s Los Angeles Comic Con.
